PeopleSoft is an Oracle software product line that offers integrated applications for business operations. These applications support Human Capital Management (HCM), which covers Human Resources (HR), payroll, self-service, benefits, time and attendance, talent management, and more, as well as Enterprise Resource Management (ERP), which covers financials, procurement, project planning, and more. PeopleTools is the underlying technology for PeopleSoft and is used to build, deploy, and maintain all applications.
CSCI is supporting the Department of the Navy to implement an Integrated Personnel and Pay System (IPPS) called Navy Personnel and Pay (NP2) using PeopleSoft. Until now, the Navy relied on legacy IT systems, a complex data management system, and limited self-service options for personnel and pay transactions. With NP2, these disparate systems are consolidated into one seamless system with new capabilities and process improvements. Intended as the Navy’s world-wide system for field-level input to support active duty and reserve users ashore through a single website and on approximately 125 ships, NP2 enables sailors to manage their own personnel and pay needs 24/7, online or by phone, while improving the systems that human resource staff use on the back-end.
CSCI is also assisting the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) to implement the Defense Retired and Annuitant Pay System (DRAS) 2 using PeopleSoft. This effort modernizes the DRAS legacy mainframe system, which supports retired military pay accounts for retirees, former spouses, and survivor beneficiaries, to a web-based, fully integrated platform for combined personnel and pay functions. DRAS2 is intended to streamline processes, comply with data regulatory requirements such as the Standard Financial Information Structure (SFIS), and provide auditable and sustainable retiree and annuitant pay capabilities that better meet user needs.
Our PeopleSoft support includes data management and cleansing using Oracle Enterprise Data Quality (EDQ) software; interface coordination and migration; functional and technical PeopleSoft development; testing activities; compiling SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence (BI) requirements; developing a Risk Management Framework (RMF) using the Federal Information Systems Controls Audit Manual (FISCAM); implementing upgrades and patches; troubleshooting issues; and developing training curriculum using the Oracle User Productivity Kit (UPK).
